ENABLE:
SERVING NEW JERSEY

ELIGIBILITY & COST

ENABLE services for adults are funded by the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVR) and the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). If the applicant is eligible, ENABLE services are free of charge.

ENABLE serves people with a variety of disabilities who reside in Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union, Middlesex, Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties.

How Do I Apply For ENABLE Services?

Your first step is to secure eligibility for funding for ENABLE services. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) funding is required, Department for Developmental Disabilities (DDD) funding is optional. Refer to the DVR and DDD links below for more information about these state agencies.

If you are already eligible for services through DVR, you should meet with your DVR counselor and ask for a referral to ENABLE for job coaching services. Some people have been eligible for DVR services in the past, but don’t have a case open currently. In this case, you would be asking for your case to be reopened.

If you are already eligible for services through DDD but not DVR, you can meet with your DDD Case Manager and ask for a referral to DVR or you can apply directly with DVR for services.

If you have never received services from DVR or DDD you can contact DVR yourself and request services.

The process of securing eligibility for funding may take a little time. You may be asked to see a doctor or specialist for an exam or to provide records from school.

Your DVR counselor may recommend a vocational evaluation, skills training or some other kind of service before you can be referred to ENABLE.

Once your DVR eligibility has been established, your DVR counselor will send a referral package to ENABLE.
