Security Operations Program

Fedcap’s Security Operations courses provide students with an overview of the security industry and its evolution, including the normal duties of security guards, how to handle emergencies and difficult situations, and appropriate monitoring and record-keeping skills. Students will gain the skills needed for a job as an entry-level security guard.

Fedcap offers the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Mandated Security Guard Training Courses, including:

Fedcap also offers:

Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters (F-80)

All NYC homeless shelters require an individual holding a Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters (F-80). This certificate is also needed in any building or occupancy required to have a one-way voice communication system, regardless of occupancy classification, that is operated or occupied by more than 15 persons for a period of more than 30 days, including emergency shelters.

After completing the class, applicants must pass the FDNY computer-based exam in order to receive the certificate.

Applicants who are currently employed in a shelter must also submit an F-80 Verification Letter and an F-80 Application completed by their employer, shelter director or the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Both documents must be on official letterhead and must be notarized. Applicants not currently employed may take the exam without the F-80 Verification Letter or F-80 Application. If the applicant passes the test, FDNY will issue a temporary letter with a photo for job seeking purposes. The Certificate of Fitness card will not be issued until the applicant is employed and submits both the F-80 Verification Letter and F-80 Application.

We recommend that applicants download and review the F-80 Notice of Exam and Study Materials prior to class.
