Luanne Macri

Director, The Fedcap School

“I feel like I’ve been in school my entire life.”  Said, Luanne Macri, Director of the Fedcap School in West Orange, NJ. 

Luanne came to the Fedcap School with a 30 year history in Newark, NJ as a Middle School Math Teacher, Vice Principal and School Administrator. Luanne served the students and faculty of the Newark Public School system until her retirement in May 2014.

Luanne quickly realized that retirement was not for her and applied for and was hired as the Principal of the Fedcap School. She loves the work with the students and has built the school into a thriving state-of- the art educational environment for children and youth with varying types of disabilities. The school has tripled in size thanks to Luanne’s energy, innovation and ability to create strong relationships with sending school districts in the area.

Luanne and her team provide high quality educational services and opportunities for the 65+ students that attend the school each year. 100% of the students graduate with a New Jersey High School Diploma. 60% go on to post-secondary education and 40% of graduating students go directly into employment.

In 2018 Luanne was promoted to Director.

Luanne obtained an Associated Degree at SUNY, and a Bachelor’s in Arts and Design at Buffalo State College and her Masters in Administration and Supervision from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey.
