Fedcap School Staff Reaches Out to Students

In accordance with a measure closing all New Jersey public and private schools, including preschools and colleges for at least two weeks, and likely much longer, as part of a statewide effort to contain the coronavirus starting Wednesday March 18^th.     

The Fedcap School in Orange, New Jersey is closing on Wednesday March 18^th in accordance with a measure closing all New Jersey public and private schools, including preschools and colleges for at least two weeks, and likely much longer, as part of a statewide effort to contain the coronavirus.     

Social Workers, Counselors and Job Coaches are making wellness checks in daily calls, and are available to any student in need. Staff will deliver breakfast and lunches to the entire student population.  Beginning March 30^th, The Fedcap School will deliver a weeks’ worth of food to each of its 61 students for as long as the crisis lasts.

Despite the hardship the mood around the Fedcap School Staff is “unified and strong,” said Principal Luanne Macri. “We are teachers. We care about our students and our population depends on us for far more than educational achievement. This will be hard on kids, it will probably set in a week or so of being out of school.  This is uncharted territory for everyone but we are in this together and we will be there for our students.”
