Gain the skills you need for a job as a security guard, one of the fastest-growing fields in today’s world. The Security Operations program offers students the in-depth training needed to succeed as security concerns become increasingly important in America. Students receive an overview of the security industry and its evolution, including the daily duties of security guards, how to handle emergencies and difficult situations, and appropriate monitoring and record-keeping skills.

Students from our Security Operations program are eligible for entry-level positions as security guards. Guards patrol and inspect property in a variety of settings to protect against fire, theft, vandalism and entry by unauthorized personnel. Even before Sept. 11, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated a growth rate of over 20% in this market in the next five years, with over 40,000 job openings per year nationally.

This program offers the mandated NYS Division of Criminal Justice Eight-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course for Security Guards, as well as the mandated 16-hour on-the-job training course. Students also learn customer relations, professionalism, job retention skills and how to conduct a job search.

As with all of our programs, students in the Security Operations program have access to our Student Support Services Department and to Fedcap’s professional vocational rehabilitation services.
