Fedcap proudly welcomed visitors from Beijing Normal University and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, to our Ellis Island site on Friday, August 17, to learn about our nonprofit economic- and workforce-development model.
Huajun Gao, Executive Vice Dean, and Jing Zeng, Director of Training, are from Beijing Normal’s China Philanthropy Research Institute, dedicated to developing China’s non-profit and service sector. Escorting them from Rutgers were Richard L. Edwards, the University’s interim president and, from the School of Social Work, Andy Germak, Executive Director of the Institute for Families, and Chien-Chung Huang, Director of the Huamin Research Center.
Fedcap was well represented by VP/Facilities Management Steve Coons, VP/Communications Barbara Rosen, Communications Coordinator James Cook and especially the excellent maintenance work and success stories of Supervisor Fernando Santiago and his team. Eager to learn more as they help China develop a new generation of NGO managers, Ms. Zeng and Mr. Gao are already talking about returning to the U.S. with a group to visit Fedcap’s headquarters and training programs.
Fedcap’s work at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island is a longtime federal government contract through NISH under the AbilityOne Program.
