28th Annual Easterseals New York Hudson Valley Golf Classic
On Monday, June 24th, 108 golfers played in the 28th Annual Easterseals New York Golf Classic at Salem Golf Club in North Salem, NY. Longtime supporters of Easterseals, and many new friends, enjoyed a great day of golf amid rolling hills and beautifully landscaped grounds. Enthusiasm was high - even after a two-hour rain delay!
Proceeds from the sold-out event support Easterseals New York programs in the Hudson Valley, including five Child Development Centers and the Community Outreach Center in Port Jervis. The Child Development Centers serve over 1,000 children and their families. They offer unique environments were children of all abilities learn together, and meet a growing need for high-quality child care for pre-school children and their parents in the Hudson Valley.
Event sponsor Entergy and gold event sponsor Giordano Builders were well represented among the golf foursomes. Jimmy DiBenedetto, a longtime Easterseals champion and supporter who has brought hundreds of people into the Easterseals fold, thanked the sponsors for their ongoing support. “Because of you, the money raised today supports children and families throughout the Hudson Valley region. Your support literally changes lives,” he said.
To the delight of the golfers, students from Project Explore in Valhalla arrived with their teachers. The children practiced their putting strokes with small plastic golf clubs, and handed out lemonade from a stand in the clubhouse. Results of a raffle and silent auction were announced after a terrific dinner, and awards were handed out for the various contests that were held throughout the day.
Dan Cooke of Entergy, one of Easterseals New York’s most dedicated champions and fundraisers, thanked all participants for their continued support. “Your support is helping children and families in the Hudson Valley thrive.”
