2016 NYC Disability Pride Parade
On Sunday July 10th, New York City held its second annual Disability Pride parade. Thousands of people attended the parade, which went from Union Square Park to Madison Square Park. A spirited contingent of Fedcap staff and leadership was led on the parade route by Fedcap COO Joe Giannetto. Joe can be seen in the photo gallery with Ms. Wheelchair NY 2016 Jessica de La Rosa.
The first Disability Pride Parade in NYC took place in 2015, the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The mission of Disability Pride NYC is to promote inclusion, awareness and visibility of people with disability. The parade is now scheduled to be an annual event. At Fedcap we applaud the opportunity to join with our friends and partners to share in this powrful demonstration of our ongoing commitment to help indivuduals with disabilities gain equity and economic independence.
“I want to thank our terrific Fedcap staff for supporting this important event that promote inclusion, awareness, and visibility of people with disabilities,” Joe Giannetto said. “Like our work at Fedcap, the parade aims to redefine public perception of disability.”
